Tam Silk

Tam Silk

Tampere is Finland's best-known textile city.

Ossian Hongen founded Tam Silk first as Kotiteollisuustrikootehdas in 1909 in Hämeenpuisto, Tampere. The name remained until 1925 when Tampereen Silkkikutomo (Tampere Silk Factory) was established. The factory's product range included women's dresses, shirts, trousers, and scarves.

In the early 1960s, the property in Hämeenpuisto was demolished under new apartment buildings, and a new suitable site for the factory was found in Kangasala. The name Tampereen Silkkikutomo was then shortened to Tam Silk and production focused on women's underwear.

Tam Silk, a Finnish textile pioneer with a remarkable history, is still in business, well into the new millennium. All Tam Silk products are 100% made in Finland - ethically and transparently.

Tam Silk swears by high quality, clean materials, responsible practices, and highly skilled staff. Just as it was almost 100 years ago.

Tam Silk's most common materials are soft, comfortable, and durable bamboo viscose, cotton, and modal. Tam Silk is particularly famous for its merino wool silk, which combines silk and wool. Tam Silk's product range includes top-quality domestic lingerie, layering pieces, home accessories, clothing, and accessories.
