Kalla Active is a Finnish clothing brand that manufactures merino wool clothing for women and children. Kalla Active's high-quality and practical merinos are designed in Helsinki and made from mulesing-free merino wool in Lithuania.
The story of Kalla Active started from a practical need of entrepreneur and mother Jenni Valtari. In her family, a normal day includes outdoor activities in all weather and regardless of the season.
Jenni views that merino wool clothing is not just a layer of underwear for winter. The thin merino material in a beautiful shade and cut makes the wool garment modern and versatile, serving leisure needs all year round.
Most of Kalla Active's merino wool is thin and super comfortable. Old pink, blueberry, and moss are the main colors of merino in the collections, supported by muted browns, among others.
The brand's name was created when Jenni was working in a florist's shop. The tubers of Calla Lily (Kalla in Finnish) are planted with a thin layer of mulch between the bottom of the pot and the tuber. Likewise, whether a child or an adult, we need layers for our outdoor activities and the most important layer is the skin layer, as it needs to transfer moisture towards the outer layers.
Merino wool absorbs 30% of its own weight in moisture and still feels dry. Merino can stay warm against the skin in winter and cool in summer due to its unique features.
