We interested to learn more about TIKA:
How was TIKA born?
Although making handbags was a lifelong hobby, the brand TIKA was born as a result of winning an International Handbag Designer Award in NY in 2014. In order to be located by interested clients, it was necessary to provide a more structured identity to my creative expression in a form of a brand with virtual, as well as, geographical coordinates.
What inspires you to create the beautiful handbags?
Nature has always had an incredibly palpable effect on my creativity. I want to be able to transmit through my work that what I see in nature, be it shapes, weaves or color combinations.
What is your view on fashion world and trends today?
Fashion has become confusing. Trends are changing so fast that it’s nerve wrecking. I stopped following them, because I’ve realised that it takes my clients couple of years to catch up on new trends, and they appreciate more authenticity and exclusivity rather than popular and imposed.
Do you have any design / fashion muses?
I dropped out of Master’s in Economics to pursue Fashion Design studies in Italy because I was so moved and impressed by work of Alexander McQueen, I couldn’t contain myself. Later, I’ve discovered Paul Poiret and Gaudi, who keep me fascinated and motivated in equal measure to this day.
Can you name your favourite TIKA design piece at the moment?
I really do love handbags from last collection with weave pattern JASMINE. This pattern is so vibrant and intertwined that it feels alive to me. It’s a piece to have because it is timeless and unique.
